Floating Heads of Wisdom’s Past | Daily Quote (JB)
“It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all – in which case, you fail by default.”
–J. K. Rowling
I was looking over my ‘Work(s)‘ section yesterday when I noticed it; a steady, gradual influx of work. At that same moment I remembered the feeling that came over me when I made my decision about writing. It hit me while sitting outside of a coffee shop in my hometown. I was writing my first manuscript- that no one will ever see- when I knew that writing is my goal. My calling. My career. In high school, my English and Creative Writing teachers said I should write. In my first year of college, my English I professor also said I should take up writing. I never listened to them until that day outside the cafe. Their faces were circling my head. For people that wanted me to write, this sure was distracting.
So, after moving here I failed. I was turned down. I was rejected because I didn’t have enough experience for some, but I kept going. And, a year and a half later, I have something to show for it. I’ll be writing a piece later today that delves a little deeper into this. Look out for it.
