A 60 Year Sequel | Daily Quote (JB)

Nelle_Harper_Lee

“Real courage is when you know you’re licked before you begin, but you begin anyway and see it through no matter what.”
Harper Lee

Something tells me that Harper Lee recently practiced what she preached. She is going to be publishing a previously unpublished manuscript after 60 years–a sequel to “To Kill a Mockingbird”. I’d assume it would take a lot of courage to publish a book that your editor once told you to set aside to finish your debut novel. We all occasionally hide behind the things that may not happen before we even begin to find out if they could. The secrecy that surrounds the outcome is there because it is supposed to be. It’s there to remind us that if we don’t want to open it and find out, it’ll find someone else who will. Following through with something, even if it’s 60 years later, is always worth your time.
